Hi All,
After leaving the beach on Friday, August 12, my wife and I headed to the Newton area so I could see my old stomping grounds and show Rosie where I grew up, and share some of those memories with her.
Our first stop was the High School where we were able to walk down a few halls.  I even showed her the upper G level from where I made the infamous jump of '72!  The school has changed very little in > 45 years.

We then went to our home on Swartswood Road and met with the owner, and elderly Scottsman whose wife had died some years ago.  The place has undergone some changes, most notably were trees growing up along the water edges, which can be seen easily in the pics.  Brian was here about a year ago, so some of this will be repeats

The pictures themselves explain the rest, along with their captions:

This statue in the Newton town park was where I climbed, and once on top some guys tossed me up a wine bottle which I wedged between the end of his gun barrel and his mouth.  It made front page of the newspaper next day.

Here is the upper G level.  I noted the windows no longer open. Wonder why....

Here is the old Newton Theater.  I remember taking Lori here to see the "First Men in the Moon."  Lori started crying so I called mom to come get her.

Here is a shot looking down Main St.

The Plaza Restaurant was still here!  I ate here a few times.

Here was the Babe Ruth baseball field

Hayak's Markets had been enlarged.  I learned that one of the original brothers, Mitch, had just passed away.   I was a good friend of his son Louie

The huge maple tree was taken out by the present owner.

The old garage now has a single door

Still a fair amount of water in the 'ol pond

The back porch.  Many bullets were shot back there.

The old dam was still standing
